About Jeff Reed

Jeffrey Alexander Reed was born on October 21st, 1985, in Hampton, Virginia. Growing up an avid sports fan, Jeff played soccer at both the club and high school level. After graduation from L.C. Bird High School in 2004, Jeff chose to join the United States Army in response to the September 11th attacks.

Jeff was stationed as a Military Policeman at Fort Hood, Texas, after completing basic training. Throughout his time in the Army, Jeff received numerous promotions and was well loved by many of the soldiers he was chosen to lead as a non-commissioned officer.

He continually showed compassion towards others, even arranging a delivery of soccer balls to Iraq when he realized the children were playing with rocks because they had no sports equipment. On March 2nd, 2009, while on a mission to train Iraqi policemen, Jeff's convoy was attacked by a hand propelled grenade. He was killed instantly. Jeff was just 15 days away from returning home from his second 15 month deployment. Jeff was awarded both a Purple Heart as well as the Bronze Star Medal. In addition to being an exceptional solider, Jeff was a devoted Philadelphia Flyers fan, animal lover and wonderful son, brother and friend that is missed by many.
